TRIGOS nomination 2026: reaching circularity together

We are delighted that our project “Recycling of Used Ropes from Our Customers” has been nominated for the TRIGOS Sustainability Award 2026 in the category “Exemplary Projects.” Out of around 180 submissions, our project has been selected as one of the 19 nominees.

This nomination validates our first steps on the journey from a linear economy based on the “Take – Make – Use – Waste” model towards a true circular economy, where “Use” is followed by “Make” once again. Instead of disposing of materials as waste at the end of their service life and extracting new resources from the planet (take), we aim to keep materials in circulation for as long as possible.

This can only be achieved through partnerships that go beyond established boundaries. Together with our partners, we are working towards a closed rope-to-rope cycle. The recycled raw materials obtained from used fiber ropes are of such high quality that they are virtually indistinguishable from virgin fibers.

Why is the circular economy so important? The extraction and processing of natural resources account for more than 60% of global greenhouse gas emissions and are a major driver of biodiversity loss. Global resource consumption has more than tripled since 1970. The United Nations therefore identifies resource efficiency and circular economy approaches as key levers for reducing climate impacts, environmental degradation, and waste generation. Through our recycling project, we are making a contribution to this transition.

The TRIGOS nomination is both an honor and a confirmation that we are on the right path. It also motivates us to continue actively shaping the transition towards a circular economy.
