One of the leading players in the energy cable industry is exploring new ways to enhance the safety and efficiency of cable installation operations. The goal? To monitor and record pull force directly at the cable head—in real time.
Currently, this force is measured at the winch. But winch readings aren’t always accurate, as they’re influenced by multiple factors, including the rope itself. That’s why our client is seeking industrial partners to develop a smarter, more direct solution that captures the actual force applied to the cable during pulling.
As a committed innovation partner, we’ve joined the project with a proposal that combines our expertise in rope design with advanced monitoring technologies.
We’ve proposed supplying our Evolution TK16 DATA rope – Ø28 mm, engineered for high strength and rotation resistance. This special version features an internal core with 3x1 single-mode optical fibers, enabling integration with real-time data transmission systems.
The rope offers a high breaking load, ensuring the strength and reliability required for critical applications.
For the first phase of R&D, a 200-meter sample has been provided to support testing activities.
This collaboration marks an exciting step forward in the digitalization of cable installation—combining mechanical performance and smart monitoring to build safer, more efficient infrastructure.
