Solitec® XD & AIM: two powerful innovations

With the new Solitec® XD ropeway rope and the digital monitoring tool AIM, Teufelberger-Redaelli is expanding its portfolio with two pioneering solutions for urban ropeway operations.

Solitec® XD has been specifically developed for use in urban environments. Whether classic urban ropeways, tourist connections, or rail-based variants – the rope impresses with reduced noise emissions, extended service life, and optimized running characteristics. Its innovative design ensures high stability, minimal elongation, and is ideally suited for large rope dimensions and high speeds.

With AIM, Teufelberger-Redaelli is focusing on digital real-time monitoring: In collaboration with AI specialists from Raidyn and MRT experts from AMC Instruments, an intelligent tool is being created that combines artificial intelligence, magnetic inductive testing, and geometric measurement. The goal is precise, continuous inspection of high-performance steel ropes – for greater safety, efficiency, and predictability.

Currently, we are using the tool exclusively in the ropeway sector,” explains Project Manager Najih Amin Muhammad, Team Lead R&D. “However, I am convinced that we will also be able to use it in lifting and offshore applications in the future. In these areas, both rope dimensions and speeds are increasing – making permanent monitoring essential.”

These two developments impressively demonstrate how Teufelberger-Redaelli combines technological innovation with tangible customer benefits – further strengthening its position as a pioneer in urban mobility solutions.
