World premiere: Series-production storage and retrieval machine with fiber rope

The fully automated central food warehouse of the “Netto” supermarket chain in Germany operates with wire rope rack feeders 24/7, 365 days a year in three shifts around the clock. Due to this high utilization, the wire ropes have to be discarded on average every 1–2 years (!).

After meticulous preparation, a highly skilled installation team and two engineers from Teufelberger installed our 15 mm “rackLITE” fiber rope on one of the machines in August in order to test the compatibility of the machines with our product.

We developed our rackLITE and the end connection specifically for this “retrofit” application:

The existing machine can be used without any modifications or reprogramming (!) – simply pull down the steel cable, clean the device, insert rackLITE, and continue operating.

This approach is extremely advantageous for our customers, as it does not involve any additional costs for conversion provides longer inspection intervals, fewer and faster rope changes, and less downtime.

The signs are good that, after the test phase, the customer will gradually retrofit its entire warehouse with rackLITE storage and retrieval machines.
